Day 1 – Desert Trip

 

NIZWA – LIBRA – WAHIBA SAND DESERT
06:30 hrs. – Guest will pick up from the hotel and drive to Nizwa Cattle Market. On Fridays, Omanis come from many miles to visit the Cattle Market. The cattle market is a round space, allowing sellers to lead their animals for sale in slow circular walk, where buyers sit in the middle and along the edges, shouting out a price. Once the deal is reached, the transfer is made immediately and the animal is either led away with a rope or in the case of a small goat, scooped up on arm. Nizwa, tourist site per excellence, has managed to retain its charm through the centuries with its strong and its guard tower that protects the city against invaders. The city is famous for its handicrafts and agricultural products, has an expansive Souq with an array of products. Our next stop we will Libra, it is one of the oldest cities in Oman and was once a center of trade, religion, education and art. The city acquired its importance as an important meeting point at the base of the Ash Sharia. Libra is home of the huge Al-Horthy tribe, one of the biggest and most powerful tribes in Oman. Our last stop will be in Wahiba Sand. (Dune bashing, enjoying the sunset view, will visit Bedouin family will have traditional Omani coffee & dates with them) The Wahhabi Sands or Armlet al-Wahhabi is a region of desert in Oman. The region is named for the Wahhabi tribe.

WAHIBA SAND DESERT

Day 2 – Turtle Watching

 

WADI BANI KHALID – RAS AL JINZ
Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
09:00 hrs. – Today, guest will pick up from the hotel and drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, for an easy walk along the riverbed with ample time to cool down in the crystal clear waters of the rock pools. It is the best-known wade of the Sharqiyah region. Its stream mountains a constant flow of water throughout the year. Large pools of water and boulders are scattered along the course of the wade. As a geographical area, Wadi Bani Khalid covers a large swathe of low land and mountains. Caves form some of the interesting features of this wade. Springs of water are also common in this wadi. We continue our drive to Ras Al Jinz home of the giant green turtle, Check in at turtle beach resort and enjoy the private beach.

RAS AL JINZ - TURTLE WATCHING

Day 3 – Coastal Road

 

SUR – WADI SHAB – BEMMAH SINKHOLE – MUSCAT
09:00 Hrs. – Guest will pick up from the hotel and drive to costal road to visit Sur; it is an ideal location in the northeast province of Sharquia and is a seafaring town, a fishing village and a trading port all in one. The highlight of the town is the dhow builder’s yard on the coast just beyond the town. Sur started trading activities with the African coast as early as the 16th century A.D. A drive through its labyrinthine streets reveals many fine old houses with caved doors, Arabesque windows and other intricate details. We continue our drive to visit of the mountain village. It is a fertile wade that meanders through a number of agricultural villages which grow dates and bananas overlooking the majestic mountains.
You can also see the valley below, and the azure waters of the sea from some elevated locations. Next stop will be Wadi Shab; it is literally means ‘Ravine between the cliffs’. Our last stop will be Bimmah Sinkhole, it is a spectacular limestone crater Created many years ago by a collapsing mountain and filled with blue-green sea water – a real wonder of nature that is definitely worth a look. Dinner and Overnight in Muscat.

SUR - OMAN

Day 4 – Muscat City Tour

 

09:00 hrs. – Guest will pick up from the hotel and drive towards the Great Mosque. We continue our journey to Seeb where we stop to see the local fish market, vegetables and fruit. Visit the Muttrah Souk, the old market, a fascinating blend of history and modernity under a magnificent 18th century Merchant’s inn. Here we have the opportunity to buy souvenir. We leave the museum for Al-Alam building (visit from outside). From here we can also admire the Fort Al- Mirani, completed in 1587, and the Fort of Al-Jalali.

Day 5 – Departure Muscat

 

Breakfast in the hotel and free time in the city (according to flight schedule). Transfer to the airport for flight back home.
