Pearl diving has a rich history in the UAE, and for centuries was the primary economic activity in the United Arab Emirates. Pearls from the Gulf waters were desired far and wide, and the Emirati people worked hard to supply that demand. If you’re are looking to delve deep and experience the historical Emirati culture you’re in luck!
The pearl diving experience takes visitors on a two-hour voyage aboard a traditional dhow, complete with traditional stories and songs rendered by seafarers. After an introduction to the history and practice of pearl diving along with traditional techniques, guests are free to search the waters for pearls. The best part is that if you manage to find a pearl, you can keep it! And if you’re lucky enough, you may even find a dana, considered to be the most valuable kind of pearl. Staged at Al Habtoor City’s custom-built theatre, the tours will end in La Perle a show like no other.
